Photo 301 of 365 - White- Breasted Nuthatch
Spotted this beauty on the Mountain! My bird book says they have a habit of hopping headfirst down tree trunks to collect insects and seeds that other birds climbing up the tree might miss! They are very agile due to their extra long hind toe claw which is nearly twice the size of their front toe claws!
